Introduction
The Fourth Industrial Revolution is transforming our cities, and the concept of Smart City embodies and signals an evolution in how we plan, design, develop and operate cities in the future. The study of Smart Cities is a trans-disciplinary study that embraces the multitude of disciplines that were not traditionally a part of urban development such as ICT and data analysis. Fueled by sustainability and resilient urban development, smart cities aim to deliver a self-sustaining ecosystem of technology-enabled efficient urban infrastructure and optimized urban management systems that are real-time and governed by citizens. The Department of Smart City aims to provide a holistic view of smart cities development and policies, improve comprehensive understanding and application of various convergence areas such as architecture, urban, energy, safety and governance, and collaborate with other professionals to deliver sustainable future cities.
