Degree Requirements
- 1) Upon enrollment, students must select a supervisor from participating professors. If necessary, professors from other majors can participate as joint advisors.
- 2) Master's students must complete 3 required courses and 3 or more major courses among
the 24 credits required to acquire a degree.
- 3) Doctorate students must complete 3 required courses (If you have already completed the master's course, you can substitute another course with the approval of your advisor.) and 6 or more major courses among the 36 credits required for obtaining a degree.
For Doctorate students entering after 2021, students must complete 3 required courses (If you have already completed the master's course, you can substitute another course with the approval of your advisor.) and 6 or more major courses among the 30 credits required for obtaining a degree.
- 4) Students in master's and doctoral degree programs are required to take courses (maximum of 15 credits) designated by the supervisor and the head professor of the department according to their major.
- 5) The approvals of the academic advisor and the head professor of the department are required to determine whether courses designated by the advisor have been completed.
- 6) Qualifications for thesis examination are as follows:
- ① Master Degree: The applicant for thesis review must publish one thesis as a lead author on a domestic and international academic conference or publish one article as the lead author in an academic journal.
- ② Doctorate Degree: The applicant for thesis review must publish one article as a lead author on a domestic and international academic conferences and one thesis as the lead author in domestic and international academic journals, or publish two articles as a lead author in academic papers before applying.
- 7) For master's program, thesis review can be replaced with a presentation in front of a panel of jury upon completion of “Smart City and Living Lab Design (SMA503)” with an approval of the supervisor and the head professor of the department.
Comprehensive Examinations
- 1) For Master's degree, passing a written exam on “Introduction to Smart City (SMA501)” and two major courses is mandatory.
- 2) For Doctoral degree, passing a written exam on “Introduction to Smart City (SMA501)” and 3 major courses is mandatory.
