Vision

Trans-disciplinary Smart City Professionals

Smart City is a core platform of the Fourth Industrial Revolution that combines urban planning and development with urban information and communication technologies. The sharp demand for Smart City professional leaders reflects a new type of professionals who can collaborate and communicate with other disciplines while having expertise in their discipline. The future direction of urban planning and development indicates an industry-level transformation that requires a new generation of industries and professionals.

Korean national government has trained more than 5,600 professionals over the past decade through the U-City field, the predecessor of Smart City, and is making efforts at the national level to train key professionals to lead the smart city development in Korea and abroad.

Smart City is a new paradigm for cities of the future that is attracting attention as an academic field that enhances urban functions and creates a sustainable urban environment through technology and citizen participation.
